Superstars sound off on Muppets

The mood around the locker room at Raw SuperShow is always frantic. Superstars and Divas are getting ready for battle and camera crews are running around trying to capture it all for the WWE Universe. Throw in some Halloween costumes, a makeshift laboratory, a talking frog, pig, bear and ... whatever Gonzo is, and things get even crazier.

That was the scene Monday night in Atlanta, as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker, along with some of the other Muppets stopped by Raw SuperShow as they get ready for the release of their movie The Muppets, in theaters this Thanksgiving . Many of the Superstars were glad to welcome the Muppets. (MUPPET PHOTOS)

“It was awesome,” WWE Diva A.J. exclaimed to WWE.com in her Mortal Kombat Kitana costume. “We had queens and Egyptian goddesses and sailors and ninjas running around. And we were the normal ones.”

For Sheamus, it was a chance to catch up with an old relative. The Celtic Warrior revealed his family ties with Beaker, assistant to Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. “There’s always one black sheep in the family, and that’s him,” he said. The Great White saved his ginger-haired cousin from Christian, who destroyed a special Muppet Labs potion Bunsen cooked up for Santino Marella.

It turns out Christian wasn’t thrilled with the Muppets invading the locker room. “Beaker ran into me like he owned the place. They walked around like they owned the whole show,” Captain Charisma growled.

He felt Beaker didn’t give him the respect that a former two-time World Heavyweight Champion deserves. “I was a little upset that he didn’t acknowledge the fact that I deserve one more chance to become the World Heavyweight Champion. That proves my theory that Muppets don’t have souls.”

The Muppets’ appearance on Raw SuperShow brought up some bad memories for Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes as well. “It’s a personal tale. I had a girlfriend – an ex-girlfriend now – who loved the “MuppetVision” attraction at Hollywood Studios [in Walt Disney World],” he explained to WWE.com “I had to see it about 11 times.”

Recalling how things didn’t end well with his then-girlfriend, the sight of the Muppets made Rhodes’ blood boil. That’s why, in the middle of all the Monday night craziness, the Intercontinental Champion wanted some retribution.

“When that young girl ripped my heart out of my chest, I decided I was going to bag that little green thing,” Rhodes proclaimed. “I got to do what everyone at home wanted to do: put a pint-sized lunchbag on Kermit the Frog.”

Aside from some negative attitudes toward the Muppets, most of the Superstars and Divas enjoyed their presence. Would they welcome them back, though? “Absolutely,” exclaimed Sheamus. “It was great fun. Hopefully, it’s something we can do every year.”
